260 2001 The October issue of Bank Notes magazine included an article, Across the Miles by Shonda Forde, describing her experiences at the University of Birmingham. James Carmichael and Ellen Stanton were joint first prize winners in the Frank Collymore Literary Endowment 2000 Competition. Julia Weekes successfully completed the Chartered Financial Analyst Programme, while Alwyn Jordan, Yvonne Parris and Peter Rochester earned Master’s degrees. 2002 Denny Lewis-Bynoe embarked on a one-year attachment in the office of the executive director for Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean at the IMF. Chanelle Maxwell received the Barbados Economics Society’s Student Award for outstanding performance in economics at the Cave Hill campus of the UWI. Anglican Bishop, Dr. John Holder, delivered the sermon during the Bank’s 30th Anniversary Church Service at St. Michael’s Cathedral on May 5. 2003 The Bank took part in the First Week of Excellence that was introduced by the Social Partners to promote excellence in the workplace and elsewhere. The event was held in the Grande Salle and started with remarks by representatives of each group and Governor Williams. The 30th Anniversary publication, Facing Globalisation: Impact and Challenges for Barbados and the Caribbean , was launched on June 20 in the Grande Salle.
