There are a number of activities that have helped to boost staff morale, engender camaraderie in the workplace and allow the central bankers and their families to have fun. Among them are the anniversary celebrations, staff concerts, awards ceremonies and Christmas parties. Anniversary celebrations Every year during May, the Bank celebrated its birthday. However, it recognised the significant anniversaries (every five years) with a special week of events. Each one had its own distinct characteristics, but apart from the Fifth Anniversary in 1977, there was always a ceremony to recognise long-serving staff-members as well as a fun sports or fun day. To stimulate interest in the celebrations, a new activity was included each time. These were (with the anniversary in parentheses) a publication (10th), a church service (20th), a scholarship and a health fair (25th), a donation of medical equipment (30th), a dramatic presentation (35th), an Open Day (40th) and a Charity Fun Run and Walk (45th). Staff concerts After the Frank Collymore Hall was constructed, the staff used the facility to showcase their talents, usually during the annual week of APPENDIX 3 CELEBRATIONS AND FESTIVITIES - THE CENTRAL BANK AT PLAY
