During the earlier part of 1986 work was concentrated on the finishes and security system of the main building. 53 In April, a decision was taken to set aside $10,000 for the purchase of pieces of local art for the headquarters building. The move from the Treasury Building A seven-member task force was set up to facilitate the move from the Treasury Building. The proposed allocation of departments in the building was as follows: Ground floor - Exchange Control; Second floor - Accounts; Third floor - Training Centre and plant room; Fourth floor - Cafeteria and Lounge; Fifth, Sixth and Seventh floors - for rent; Eighth floor - Bank Supervision, Credit Insurance and Banking; Ninth floor - Research, the Library and MIS; Tenth floor - Secretariat. In May 1986, the Bank Supervision Department was the first to move when it temporarily occupied the space allotted for the Library. Partial handing-over of the main building took place on July 7, six months behind schedule, as the late delivery of furniture delayed full occupation of the premises. 52 By September, six of the eight departments had moved into the new building and at year-end only the MIS Department had not been relocated. At this stage there were suggestions that rental space in the building was too cheap; questions were also being asked about the possibility of locating some public offices there. By March 1987, the first tenants had moved in - the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations was situated on the sixth floor and the Barbados Development Bank was Chapter 3: Consolidation: 1976 to 1986
