Ins & Outs of SVG 2020
Marvellous The buzz Mayreau’s Roman Catholic Church One of Mayreau’s main attractions is the small Roman Catholic Church solidly built of local stone and perched on top of the central hill. With the added attraction of a small nature museum, this rustic building also offers a magnificent panoramic view from its lofty location - sweeping down over the village, the hillside, the coastline, across the sea and onto the spectacular beauty of the Tobago Cays. Dennis’ Sweet ‘Ands Nicknamed “Sweet ‘ands” (as in hands) because he’s such a good cook, Dennis Forde recently celebrated the 30th Anniversary of his restaurant Dennis’ Hideaway. Like many people born and raised in these small islands, Dennis spent his formative adult years out on the ocean, captaining fishing boats and then operating dive boats. After coming home in 1989, he opened his first restaurant and guest house in Mayreau Village, later followed by a Beach Bar, Café, Boat House, and a water desal plant on Saline Beach. When not busy selling water from the jetty or cooking in the kitchen, he also takes guests sports fishing and on excursions to the Tobago Cays. Dennis is open from 7am until the last customer leaves.
