48 ST. VINCENT SHOPPING&SERVICES Cocoa Kalinago is a new range of chocolate that recently went into production in St. Vincent. It all started in 2011 when Andrew and Delphine Hadley were appointed by an international company to re-establish the cocoa industry in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Andrew has 30 years experience in agriculture and is a well-respected farmer. Now they have launched their own Cocoa Kalinago Chocolate. They grow a small amount of their own cocoa Cocoa Kalinago FromBean to Bar - Artisanal Vincentian Chocolate on their Union Estate, but most of the beans are bought from farmers at a fair price. The chocolate is fully traceable back to the farms. Andrew and Delphine believe in sustainability and fair trade and are very proud of their good working relationship with Vincy farmers. They have a tight control on quality as they select, ferment and sun dry all the cocoa. The fermenting is particularly important to the end product. Their chocolates are fully artisanal. Andrew and Delphine, along with their hard-working team, are making high quality, small batches of chocolate. Just what the doctor ordered!
