Ins & Outs of Grenada

BEACHES  71 INS Levera Beach On Grenada’s northern coast is this often-deserted, rugged beach. It offers beautiful views of Sugar Loaf and Green Island, and the Grenadines in the distance. It’s a popular spot for leatherback turtles to nest, and local conservation groups can organise turtle watches. Bathway Beach A national park on Grenada’s north east coast, the picnic benches and shaded trees make it a popular spot for a picnic and swim on a round-the- island tour. A barrier-reef creates a calm pool, protected from the waves and ideal for swimming. Saline Island For a deserted island experience, check out Saline Island off the coast of Carriacou. WIC-KID offers luxury day charters. You’ll probably be the only one there, and the reef offers excellent snorkeling. Grenada boasts more than 45 beaches, many with sparkling white sand, turquoise waters and fringed by coconut palms - the classic formula for your expectations of an idyllic tropical beach. Equally intriguing are the black-sand, and multi-coloured beaches, thanks to Grenada’s volcanic geology. Several of the best beaches in Grenada are located in the south west, within easy reach of the major hotels and villas, but it’s worth taking a day trip by road or boat to visit some of the more remote stretches of sand around the coastline and out- islands. By law, all beaches in Grenada are public, and yet without the mass-tourism of other destinations, you’ll often find very few people in sight. Here are some of our favourite beaches to explore while in Grenada. Beaches on Carriacou & Petite Martinique Our sister islands boast beautiful beaches and out-islands like Saline below.
